Company standards

The non-negotiables that make a Meri operator recognisable on any call.

The five standards

These are the behaviours we hire for, train for and remove people for.

  • Preparation: you know the business before you speak to it
  • Honesty: you say the uncomfortable thing early
  • Clarity: no jargon, no filler, no hiding behind vocabulary
  • Follow-through: what you say happens, happens
  • Composure: you stay calm when the conversation gets difficult

Why standards beat scripts

A script keeps you alive on your first ten calls. Standards keep you effective for a career. Once you understand why a line works, you can rebuild it in your own words for the person in front of you.

Say it like this

Weak

Sorry to bother you, I'll be quick, I promise — is now an okay time?

Meri standard

Hey Dave — Alex from Meri Solutions. I called about something specific to your business. Have you got two minutes?

Apologising for existing tells the prospect the call has no value.

Practice drill

Record yourself saying your opening line twice: once apologising, once with composure. Listen back and notice what changes.
